This cosy light illuminates our “home” corner. Next to it you see a piece of Portuguese broidery (I'm Portuguese) saying “my little house, my home”, a picture of us, and some of our stuff at home. I've been working as a researcher in Palliative Care since 2004, supported by Cicely Saunders International. This was when I first met Cicely. Since then, I have done the MSc in Palliative Care with distinction and now I'm doing a PhD examining variations in place of death in cancer, in relation to people's preferences, the quality and costs of the care received and outcomes for patients and families. Hoping to take Cicely's vision forward.
