Brenda Ferns
This lamp sits in a corner of our kitchen. I love the soft light it gives off even though not always very practical in a kitchen. On the wall are some watercolours by my husband. I first met Dame Cicely in 2002 and, like others who knew her I’m sure, I was drawn by her smile and her warmth. I also discovered fairly quickly that her memory was faultless! The Institute seemed a long way off then but she was determined that it would become a reality and so here we are, eight years later, celebrating the finished Institute and thus also celebrating her life’s work. I think she would have been very proud.
