I knew Cicely when I was a ward manager and then Matron at St Christopher's. We had many chats about working in palliative care and the importance of family to sustain us. Cicely always asked about my partner and that touched me because I knew that she meant it. The photo shows Anne and I on the day of our civil partnership. The other photo shows my lovely brother Edwin, who died in 2009, on holiday with his kids.
